How I May Help You

Individual Therapy

I am trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is an empirically-supported treatment shown to be highly effective for a range of psychological disorders and medical conditions.

I believe that psychotherapy, notably CBT, can treat effectively a range of mind-body problems and provide a space for personal growth and healing. A trusting, collaborative relationship, with a good therapeutic fit can provide structure for people to build strengths, support, resilience and resources, and to become empowered in learning how to help themselves. It can also be a place for personal discovery where you learn more about yourself as a person, your relationships with others and your life purpose.

I am highly skilled at helping people to identify treatment goals and successfully achieve them. My primary treatment approach is CBT, which provides a structure for therapeutic work and facilitates good outcomes. I will help you examine thoughts, feelings and behaviors in the context of your life and help you to change them to better your health and your overall quality of life. Within this structured framework, I can be flexible in providing space for open exploration when it is desired or needed.

I will work collaboratively with you to establish treatment goals and objectives, some of which may include increasing adaptive, rational and/or positive cognitions, emotions and/or behaviors, increasing level of function in social, occupational, educational or other areas, cultivating a positive sense of self-identity, promoting personal growth and development, fostering effective problem-solving and coping skills, expanding the capacity for work, love and creativity, and improving life satisfaction and quality. I strive to empower you.

I may also adopt an integrated treatment approach or use adjunct treatments to help treat you holistically, believing that health and wellness involves mental, physical, social and spiritual realms. I bring special skills and strengths, sensitivity, warmth, understanding and compassion to my clinical work.
